British company Surrey NanoSystems has developed Vantablack, a material that absorbs all but 0.035% of visual light. It is so dark that the human eye is incapable of seeing it accurately, making contours and folds in the material imperceptible. According to the firm’s CTO Ben Jensen, “You expect to see the hills and all you can see … it’s like black, like a hole, like there’s nothing there. It just looks so strange.”

this is where i would post a picture of the dashcon ball pit and probably lose four followers.
but seriously? sometimes when i am stressed out i think about a nice apartment or house with.. neat, simple, kinda minimalist furniture, lots of white, and big windows that let in natural light.
ever since i was little i used to like the idea of a place like that. i think i either owned or dreamed about an illustrated book about a cat who lived with his owners in a similar house, where the rooms were simple, modern-looking, tidy, and well-lit. i liked that aesthetic and it has stuck with me. maybe i will live there in ten years or so!
